Draco is sixteen when he wakes up to a searing, almost effervescent pain blistering across the inside of his right wrist.
He knows what it means—everyone does—and he switches on his bedside lamp with heavy limbs and a shuddering sigh. He has to count backwards from ten before he’s gathered enough courage to look down.
And what he sees—
He clenches his teeth to hold back a choked-off roar of frustration, molars grinding and enamel cracking, squeezes his eyes shut against the sickening lurch of dread knotted like a noose around his chest and his throat and his lungs—because his soul mate is a death trap. A death sentence. The world is falling apart, has been for months, and he’s already made his choice; he’s already picked his side, hedged his bets, put a price on his parents’ lives.
He doesn’t have room for this.
For her.

*.* T-Thank you!! Sorry it took so long to reply weekends give me no free time >///<. Oh, oh dear I have so many already lmao. here goes *cracks knuckles*
- Draco is totally the sassiest fucker in all of Hogwarts and Hermione is literally the only person who can keep up without even blinking and Draco is left speechless the first time she retorts without pause and he’s left there flabbergasted as she saunters away until next time when he’s ready for the stupid mudblood’s wit, but she still replies quick as a whip and he has to fumble a little before he can reply with another sassy remark which she shrugs off and he has to work twice as hard before he even sees a flicker of annoyance in her eyes
- Draco is definitely the smartest boy of their year, but he doesn’t care enough to study like Hermione which drives her crazy because she has to spend HOURS to get her grades and he’s just there like meh and succeeds
- Draco wasn’t sure when it happened, but one day he started watching Hermione across the hall as she ate with her fellow Gryffindors, and suddenly he had to watch her every meal at least once and sneer at every little thing she did because ewww she’s so annoying, and her hair so obnoxious, and did she really smile so brightly because she never did when they were in class not like that… and he really wanted to see her smile like that in closer proximity. Fuck what was happening?!
- Hermione only watched quidditch for Ron and Harry so she rarely paid any attention to the other players, but during one of the games against slytherin she absentmindedly turned towards the blond streak flying by and realized wow he really enjoyed playing quidditch cause this had to be the first time she has ever seen such a brilliant smile on his face, like he really didn’t seem so hateful when he was grinning ear to ear like that and he could even be called handsome with a face that beautiful, and the very second she realized she was admiring him she had to smack her face with both hands to get over her hormones, and everyone around her stared at her like she was crazy.
“I have all the characteristics of a human being: flesh, blood, skin, hair … but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust.”
He was supposed to be an angel but they took him from that light and turned him into something hungry, something that forgets what his hands are for when they aren’t shaking. start by wiping the blood off of his chin and pretending to understand. “i won’t leave you, i won’t leave you” when is a monster not a monster? oh, when you love it.
The biggest problem with the Harry Potter movies…how do I put this?
They substituted too many original book scenes with new scenes but those new scenes did nothing to add to the atmosphere of Harry Potter. If anything, it ruined the atmosphere. And you’re left wondering why they had to add those scenes and why they didn’t keep the original scenes to begin with?
Like for example, look at Ron and Hermione’s relationship.
Deathly Hallows Part I added the scene where Ron and Hermione are playing the piano and a scene where Ron and Hermione are skipping rocks.
But the movie excluded the scene where Ron told Hermione that she could change her surname to Weasley and that he and his family would hide her because they loved her, because he loved her, and they would do anything to protect her.
Or look at how they changed the kiss. Why? Why was it necessary for them to randomly kiss after being chased by a Voldemort tidal wave? Why couldn’t they keep the original scene where Ron talked about how they needed to save the house-elves? Of course, it wouldn’t really make sense, because they never showed Hermione’s obsession with the house-elves to begin with.
Actually, that’s one of the biggest issues with Movie!Hermione. The problem isn’t that Emma Watson was too pretty. The problem was that the movies focused on Hermione’s perfection and her ability to always have an answer to the scene, instead of focusing on her anxiety under pressure or her obsessiveness or any other negative trait.
And don’t get me started on the butchering of Ron’s character.
Or look at Harry and Ginny’s relationship in the books verses the movies. The movies added a scene where Harry zipped up Ginny’s dress but they neglected to add the scene where they had a heart-to-heart talk about how difficult it was to maintain a relationship during war times and how they were putting their relationship on hold, even though it was hard, because they truly loved each other.
I could just start listing specifics.
Like how the Prisoner of Azkaban added the Monster Book of Monsters scene and the choir scene and the candy…smoke…ears scene but they didn’t add the scene where Sirius and Remus briefly explained their backstory or the scene where Sirius enters the tower to get Peter or the scene where Dumbledore and Harry talk about Pettigrew’s life-debt.
The Goblet of Fire movie added so many unnecessary scenes and cut out about ¾ of the scenes from the book in order to do so.
Order of the Phoenix put in a bunch of filler and ended up reducing the DA training to a montage with upbeat music.
The Half Blood Prince added all of these filler scenes for the sake of humor or filler but failed to really show Tom Riddle’s backstory. They added the scene where the Death Eaters attacked the Burrow but failed to add the extensive final battle in Hogwarts. They made sure to show every single moment of Harry getting high from Felix Felicis but never showed him coming to terms with the prophecy.
They even messed up the final battle between Harry and Voldemort. I mean, it was epic but they just…messed up.
Or just look at the Prince’s Tale. They literally changed every single scene and in doing so, they completely missed the point of Snape’s character.
They completely missed the points of a lot of characters.
They weren’t bad, per say, but they just…weren’t…accurate. And as much as I love them, there’s also a part of me that wishes that they could have come closer to capturing the character and atmosphere of Harry Potter.
